It has been reported that Patrick Autocare have proposed to construct a $10 million car storage and pre-delivery inspection facility at the Kembla Grange (near Port Kembla).
GAC World reports that a development application has been lodged. This facility would store 4,000 vehicles arriving into the port. Most cars would be stored for up to three weeks, giving the site an annual capacity for about 70,000 vehicles.
The facility would be built in several stages, including, six hectares of storage pavements, administration buildings, fencing, security and surveillance systems, lighting, landscaping, processing buildings and hail-proof mesh over the pavements.
According to Patrick Autocare, the proposed development may include rail access. That would be the major benefit of the facility. The rail access would be used to transport imported vehicles between the port and the Kembla Grange storage facility and the NSW car market.
